The Training tab tracks how the project gets its users ready for the new system. Open it from the project menu: Delivery, then Training.

What it's for

Go-live is only safe when the people who use the system know how. The tab answers that with one number, Training readiness: the people trained divided by the people who must be trained, across every audience. Around it you plan the courses, schedule the sessions and record who turned up.

Four figures sit at the top:

  • Training readiness: the percentage, with how many people are trained out of how many need it.
  • Courses ready or running: courses that are Ready, In delivery or Completed, out of all courses not cancelled.
  • Sessions in the next 30 days, with the total scheduled.
  • Attendance: seats filled in completed sessions.

Before you start

Before you plan training

  • The project's plan includes Training (Professional, Enterprise or a personal plan)
  • Your role can edit training
  • You know the audiences (roles or teams) and how many people are in each
  • You have a list of the courses each audience needs

How to set up training

  1. Add a course

Select Add course. Enter the Course name, and optionally a Reference (such as TRN-01), Audience or role, Mode, Duration (hours), Owner, Status and Notes. Save with Add course.

  2. Add the audiences

Under Completion by role, select Add audience. Enter the Role or team, pick a Course or leave All courses for this audience, and enter People to train and Trained.

  3. Schedule sessions

Select Add session. Pick the Course, set Starts, and add the Location or link, Virtual (held online), Trainer and Capacity.

  4. Record attendance

After a session, open it, set Status to Completed and enter how many Attended.

  5. Update completion

As people finish, open the audience and raise the Trained number. Readiness updates straight away.

Reading the page

  • Completion by role shows a progress bar for each audience: people trained against people who must be.
  • Sessions lists sessions by month. Switch between Upcoming and Held. Each shows the course, online or in person, location, trainer and seats or attendance.
  • Courses is a table of every course with its audience, mode, hours, owner, workstream, number of sessions and status.

Course statuses are Planned, In design, Ready, In delivery, Completed and Cancelled. Modes are Classroom, Virtual, E-learning, Blended and On the job. Session statuses are Scheduled, Completed and Cancelled.
