What it's for
ProjectCAPEX installs straight from your browser as an app. It is the same app, in its own window with its own icon, and you sign in with the same account. There is no installer file to download, and there are no ProjectCAPEX apps in the App Store or Google Play.
Before you start
You need
- Chrome or Edge on Windows or Mac, Safari on a Mac, Safari on iPhone or iPad, or Chrome on Android
- ProjectCAPEX open in that browser, signed in
Install from inside the app
Where the browser supports it, the app offers the install itself:
- In the account menu, under Explore, select Install ProjectCAPEX.
- In Settings, Preferences, the Install the app panel has an Install ProjectCAPEX button, or the steps for your browser.
- Home may show a banner, Install ProjectCAPEX as an app, with an Install button. You can dismiss it.
If the app is already installed, the panel says "You are using the installed app".
Windows and Mac with Chrome or Edge
- Open ProjectCAPEX
Open the app in Chrome or Edge.
- Install
Select the Install button at the right of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install ProjectCAPEX (in Edge, under Apps).
- Open it
ProjectCAPEX opens in its own window and is added to your Start menu or Applications folder.
Mac with Safari
- Open ProjectCAPEX
Open the app in Safari.
- Add to Dock
In the menu bar, choose File, then Add to Dock.
- Confirm
Select Add. ProjectCAPEX opens from the Dock in its own window.
iPhone and iPad
- Open ProjectCAPEX
Open the app in Safari.
- Share
Tap the Share button.
- Add to Home Screen
Choose Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
Android
- Open ProjectCAPEX
Open the app in Chrome.
- Install app
Tap Install app when it appears, or open the menu and choose Install app.
- Find it
ProjectCAPEX is added to your home screen and your apps.
Good to know
- Projects need a connection. Your programme data lives on the server, not on the device. Without a connection the app still opens, and shows a clear message that you are offline.
- Updates ask first. When a new version is ready, the app tells you and reloads only when you choose, so you never lose an edit.
- Your AI key is per device. An installed app on a new device needs your key added again. See AI settings and your own key.
- On-device speech works in the installed app once you download the speech model. See Voice and dictation.
