The Scope Agent reads a scope of work document and proposes entries for the scope register and the WRICEF register. Each proposal quotes the sentence it came from. Nothing is saved until you accept it.
Before you start
You will need
- A Professional, Enterprise or personal plan on the company
- The Admin or Project manager role on the project
- AI turned on in Settings, AI, with your own AI key (see AI settings and your own key)
- The document as PDF, Word (.docx) or plain text, under 25 MB, on your device or in the project's document register
How to run it
- Open it
In the project, select Scope, then Read a scope document. You can also start it from the Scope Agent card on the Agents page.
- Choose the source
Under "Read from", pick A file on this device and choose the file, or Document register and choose a document. Statements of work are listed first.
- Run
Select Run the agent. Long documents are read in parts, and the progress line says which part it is on.
- Review each proposal
Each card shows its kind (In scope, Exclusion, Assumption, Constraint, Dependency, Deliverable, or WRICEF with its type), the title, the detail and the quote from the document.
- Accept, edit or reject
Select Accept to add it, Edit to change the title or workstream first, or Reject to drop it. Accept all adds every proposal that is ready.
- Check the result
Each accepted card says what it added and links to the register. Select Close when you are done.
What gets saved when you accept
- Scope items go into the scope register as Approved and part of the original baseline. Exclusions become Out of scope items. Deliverables become In scope items whose detail starts with "Deliverable."
- WRICEF proposals become WRICEF objects with their type and complexity. Every WRICEF object needs a workstream, so pick one with Edit if the agent did not.
- The detail or notes of each accepted item record the quote and the document it came from.
Good to know
- The agent reads up to about 60,000 characters of a document. If a document is longer, the rest is not read, and the source line in the results says "the first 60,000 characters".
- A file on your device is read on your device and is not uploaded to ProjectCAPEX. The text is sent to your chosen AI provider with your own key.
- The agent checks its proposals against the scope register and the WRICEF list, and merges near-duplicates across parts, so you should not get the same item twice.
- If the button is turned off, the reason shows beside it. For example: "AI agents are part of the Professional plan.", "Your role cannot run AI agents." or "Turn on AI in your settings."
- A proposal you rejected can be brought back with Undo until you close the drawer.
- Accepted items are ordinary records. Edit or delete them in the register like any other.
Who can do this
Admins and project managers can run the Scope Agent and accept its scope items. Accepting a WRICEF proposal also needs the right to create WRICEF objects, which both roles have.
